Crowdfund This: ‘The Rumour Mill’ by Bexie Bush
Encounters alumni and multi award winning director Bexie Bush and BAFTA winning producer Chris Hees and their team have taken up residency in John Smedley’s Mill in the Derwent Valley in Derbyshire. This Mill is unique in being one of the first bespoke woollen Mills in the UK still operating today.
Bexie Bush and Chris Hees have been conducting audio interviews with the Mill workers that will be depicted visually through handmade miniature models brought to life through Stop-Frame animation. The intention of their set design is to capture the atmosphere of this unique place including the warmth of the local people. The screenplay of the film will convey the message that to implement change you need to be able to understand the issues and feel involved in the democratic process. It’s also about community, British manufacturing and most of all, coming together to communicate and bring about change. To contribute, please click here.
Bush’s previous film Mend and Make Do screened at our 2014 Encounters Festival edition. Equal parts documentary, animation and magic, “Mend and Make Do” features the original voice of Lyn Schofield of Southport, Merseyside, a woman with a lifetime of tales to tell. See the trailer below.
