We are now taking bookings for a professional development training course aimed at established and aspiring film and animation producers to be held at the Traverse Theatre, the delegate centre of the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

The Encounters Producers Course offers an exceptional one-day course that will explore traditional methods and practices whilst covering the most up to date issues related to animation and short film production, including the new UK tax break, financial incentives and distribution.

The course will focus on key areas of development and production and will include seminars, case studies and discussions. Sessions will be led by four of the most successful and acclaimed producers and industry experts in the UK: Paul Kewley, Producer of Shaun The Sheep The Movie; Anna Mansi, Head of Certification at BFI; Ken Anderson, Founder, CEO & Creative Director of Red Kite Animation; and Debbie Ross, Executive Producer at Axis.

This intermediate to advanced course is designed for a maximum of 25 participants.

Speakers:

Paul Kewley

Paul Kewley joined Aardman in 2009 where he has been a key player in developing the company’s feature film slate. Paul Produced ‘Shaun The Sheep The Movie’ with Julie Lockhart, a project that he steered creatively as well as being a key member of the team that raised financing for the film. He has been the architect of the BFI/Aardman Film Lab, a scheme intended to develop animated projects in the UK. He has spent more than a decade working in the US film industry on feature films.

 

Anna Mansi

As Head of Certification, Anna Mansi works closely with key stakeholders in government and across the Creative Sector industries to provide advice and guidance on the application processes for all of the cultural tests, co-production treaties and policies relating to all of the Creative Sector tax reliefs including film, High-end, Animation Television, Children’s Television and Video Games.

 

Ken Anderson Profile Picture 2013

Ken Anderson has worked in the International Film and TV Industry for 20 years, establishing and running various businesses with particular experience in childrens’ television and animation. As Founder, CEO and Creative Director of Red Kite he has most recently been Executive Producer on the ‘Dennis and Gnasher’ series 3 and 4. He is an external advisor for the Irish Film Board, Welsh Lottery Fund, Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Development International and Scottish Screen.

 

Debbie Ross

Debbie Ross has been working in creative production for over 20 years – three in television documentaries, nine in live action commercial production and the last ten in CGI at Axis Animation where she is Executive Producer. Her interest is in creating great content, whatever the medium. She brings some live action sensibilities to CGI projects whilst celebrating the freedom that CG allows.
