Widening The Lens Pitching Competition Shortlist Announced

Encounters Festival is offering three emerging filmmakers the opportunity to win cash prizes and valuable talent development opportunities, with a new pitching competition for a short film idea addressing diversity and the idea of challenging limitations of character and story development often seen on screen.

The shortlisted filmmakers are: Grant Gulczynski, Ako Mitchell, Marley Morrison, Candice Onyeama, Helena Middleton, Jenn Nkiru, Jessica Ashman, Lina Caicedo and Mariana Conde.

They are invited to Encounters Festival 2016 to take part in workshops and mentoring sessions, and will then pitch to a group of international expert judges to be in with a chance of winning cash prizes of up to £1500 and in kind awards.  The winner will also get to go on a trip to the Clermont Ferrand Film Festival 2017 with the Encounters Festival Team.  The winners will be announced at the 2016 Encounters Festival Awards Ceremony on Saturday.
