To celebrate the 70th birthday of one of the most distinguished and appreciated cinematic visionaries of our time, Wim Wenders, ARTE are providing established and aspiring film makers with the chance to participate in a huge short film contest! To pay tribute to him, the competition launches on August 15th 2015 and will look to challenge entrants by setting them a task closely associated with one of Wenders' works!

The aim of the competition will be to “suede” a sequence picked out from Wenders’ masterpiece “Der Himmel über Berlin“. Unfamiliar with the term, “to suede”? Well it’s taken from Michel Gondry’s film “Be kind, rewind” and describes the action of re-constructing a scene from an existing, well known film by your own means. You can re-interpret the scene by either staying close to the original or re-think it with your own touch. The only guideline is that it stays recongnisable. The winning video will be broadcasted within the short-film-magazine ShortCircuit nationwide in Germany and France and will be published and promoted worldwide at the ARTE-website. Enjoy working on your idea; we are looking forward to receiving your film!! Below are the technical guidelines for your film should provide:
