The DepicT! Jury is headed up by Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey ASC BSC on behalf of The Royal Photographic Society; twice Oscar® and BAFTA nominated for 'Atonement' and 'Anna Karenina' and acclaimed for his work on films including 'Nocturnal Animals' (BSC Best Cinematography Award), 'The Avengers' and 'The Hours' as well as music videos for the likes of U2 and The Rolling Stones and shorts including Sam Taylor-Wood’s Turner Prize nominated 'Atlantic'.
Afo is BAFTA winning producer who began his film career working in the film festival world for Sundance and BFI London Film Festivals. His experience spans across international film sales, distribution, publicity, film education and production working for companies such as Number 9, Salt and DDA PR.
In May 2012 he was selected as one of Screen International 50 Future leaders in film. Now working as a producer under his company Broedmachine, Afo has projects in development with BBC Films, Ffilm Cymru, Ingenious and Revolution Films. As of 2017 Afo produced BAFTA winning short film 'Home' from director/writer Daniel Mulloy and Executive produced feature film 'I Am Not A Serial Killer' directed by Billy O’Brien.
Åsa Lucander is a Director for Aardman and has over 15 years of industry experience working in illustration, animation and graphic design both in the UK as well as Scandinavia. She has directed multiple short films and commercials, including her latest award winning short film 'Lost Property'.
Beth Webb is Multiplatform Editor at Random Acts, and has worked in film journalism, programming and events production. A member of feminist programming body the Bechdel Test Fest and lead film writer for Aesthetica magazine, Beth formerly worked across Film4.com’s digital channels before joining Random Acts last year.
As Multiplatform Editor, Beth manages all of Random Acts online channels, programmes and hosts short film events across the country and helps to promote the fine work that Random Acts presents every year.
Chris Auty - Head of Producing, National Film and Television School
Former film critic Chris Auty has produced films including Stealing Beauty, My Summer of Love, In This World and 24 Hour Party People and is currently Head of Producing at NFTS. He sits on the governing board of the European Film Academy and has launched a new course CBEE (Creative Business for Entrepreneurs and Executives), backed by the NFTS, Ingenious Media, and Sir Richard Branson.
Matt Turner (Shooting People Membership & Editorial)
Matt works for Shooting People, the UK's largest community for independent filmmakers. For SP, he handles all editorial output, curates the Film of the Month competition, and is the first point of contact for the membership. When not representing Shooting People, Matt is usually found scurrying between London's various cinemas trying to make up for lost time, or writing about film at tale of cinema.
