Join Calling the Shots for screenings of First Acts films from South West young creatives as well as gems from the back catalogue as the Bristol-based production company celebrates it’s 20th anniversary.
First Acts was a project partnership between Channel 4’s Random Acts, Arts Council England and five regional production centres; the ICA, Screen South, Tyneside Cinema, Rural Media and Calling the Shots. 360 films were produced by 16-24 year olds from across the country with many featuring on the TV show hosted by Fresh Meat’s Zawe Ashton.
Calling the Shots was formed in 1998, premiering Stray, a film exploring issues of youth homelessness, at Encounters in 1999. They have since championed new talent and new voices from Bristol, the South West and beyond.
